Toggl Track pricing:
what it really costs

Toggl Track is a clean, well-loved time tracker. The catch for Xero teams: its invoicing reaches only PDF and QuickBooks, with no Xero path, so every billable hour gets re-keyed into Xero by hand. Here is the real cost, and where it leaves you when the month closes.

Toggl Track pricing tiers

Per-seat pricing that scales with every person you add.

Plan Price Notes
Free $0 Up to 5 users. Time tracking, no Xero invoicing path.
Starter ~$9 / user / mo Billed annually. Around $10 per user billed monthly.
Premium ~$18 / user / mo Billed annually, about $20 monthly. PDF and QuickBooks invoicing, no Xero.
Enterprise Custom Volume pricing and controls. Still no Xero path.

The gotchas to watch for

Per-seat scaling

The headline price is per user per month. A team of six on Starter is roughly $54 per month before you have billed a single client, and it climbs with every hire.

No Xero invoicing path

Toggl Track can build a PDF invoice and push invoices to QuickBooks, but it has no Xero integration. For a Xero shop the tracked hours never become a bill in your accounting system.

Re-keying into Xero

When the month closes you export hours and copy them into Xero by hand. That is slow, and it is where rounding and transcription errors creep in.

The Xero gap

Toggl Track is genuinely good at tracking, and it can even create a PDF invoice or push one to QuickBooks. The problem for Xero teams is that there is no Xero integration at all, so there is no native push-to-Xero invoice flow. The handoff to your accounting system is entirely manual.

That means every billing cycle you export a timesheet, total it up, and re-key the figures into Xero invoice by invoice. Descriptions, rates and tax treatment all have to be reapplied by hand. The more clients you have, the more this hurts.

If your books live in Xero, a time tracker whose invoicing never reaches Xero leaves the hardest part of the month entirely on you.

Common questions

How much does Toggl Track cost in 2026?

As of mid-2026, Toggl Track Starter is around $9 per user per month billed annually, or about $10 per user per month billed monthly. Premium is around $18 per user per month annually, or about $20 monthly, and Enterprise is custom. There is a free tier for up to five users. Re-check the vendor current pricing, including any annual versus monthly promotions, before relying on these figures.

Does Toggl Track do invoicing?

Yes, but not into Xero. Toggl Track can create PDF invoices from tracked time and push invoices to QuickBooks, yet it has no Xero integration. For a Xero shop there is no native path, so you still export hours and re-key the bill into Xero by hand.

Does Toggl Track connect to Xero?

No. Toggl Track has no Xero integration and no native push-to-Xero invoice flow. Its invoicing reaches only PDF and QuickBooks, so for Xero you copy the totals across manually, which is slow and error-prone.

Does Toggl Track support retainers?

No. Toggl Track has no retainer tracking, so there is no hours budget, remaining-hours view or usage alerts for monthly retainer clients.

How is Hour Cap different from Toggl Track?

Hour Cap tracks time and then pushes invoices to Xero as drafts you review before sending, with four line-item grouping modes. It also tracks retainers and exports reports. Toggl Track can make PDF or QuickBooks invoices but has no Xero path, so billing into Xero is left entirely to you.

Is there a free option?

Both have a free tier. Toggl Track free covers up to five users for time tracking. Hour Cap free covers a single user but does not include the Xero integration, which starts on the Team plan at $10 per month.

Bill straight from your hours

Track time, then push invoices to Xero as drafts you review before sending. Connect Xero and your contacts sync automatically. The Xero integration is on the Team plan; the Free plan covers a single user.
